The Board of Education acknowledges National Educator Appreciation Week.

On Wednesday evening at the USD 253 Board of Education (BOE) meeting, the Board expressed their appreciation to all Emporia Public Schools staff as National Educator Appreciation Week is celebrated. As part of a nationwide initiative to honor educators' dedication and hard work, Emporia Public Schools is proud to announce its support of Educator Appreciation Week. From May 6 to May 10, the district will be celebrating the invaluable contributions of teachers, administrators, and staff members who play a crucial role in shaping the future of our community.

Superintendent Dr. Allison Anderson-Harder said, “Our staff are the heart and soul of our school district. Their commitment to our students and their families is second to none.  We appreciate all of them for their hard work and dedication, not just this week but every week throughout the year.” In honor of Educator Appreciation Week, each staff member will receive a card providing discounts at local businesses in the community that can be utilized from May 20 to 26.  It is a very busy time of the year and providing the window of discounts the week after school concludes, offers staff members the opportunity for more flexibility to use these cards. Anderson-Harder, added, “We value these businesses and their support for our staff and community. We are truly grateful for their partnership in sponsoring Educator Appreciation Week. Thank you to our educators and our community for making us #EmporiaProud!”

Educator Appreciation Week is a national holiday celebrated across the United States and takes place each year during the first full week of May.
