Emporia Public Schools Recognized for Excellence in Capturing Kids’ Hearts

Emporia, KS – On Wednesday evening, the District Support Team presented the Strategic Plan Quarterly Report, sharing updates on student and district data across Emporia Public Schools. The report outlined the progress made in student achievement, professional development, communication, and ongoing efforts to enhance the learning environment for all students.

One of the highlights of the report was the continued success of Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH), a program focused on building positive relationships and strengthening school culture. It was announced that seven of Emporia Public Schools’ nine schools have been nominated as Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools. This recognition is given to schools that have shown exemplary implementation of CKH practices, reflecting a strong commitment to creating a safe, welcoming environment dedicated to student success. Schools go through a rigorous evaluation process that looks at survey results, performance data, and campus observations to assess overall school culture.

“We are incredibly proud of our schools' work to implement Capturing Kids’ Hearts and create positive, supportive environments for students,” said Mrs. Judy Stanley, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning and Student Services. “This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our teachers and staff, who work tirelessly to build strong relationships and foster student success. We are also grateful for the continued support of the Board of Education in making this important work possible.”

The Strategic Plan Quarterly Report reflects the district’s commitment to meaningfully impacting students’ lives, from investing in social-emotional support to increasing student success in all areas. Recognizing that the majority of our schools were nominated for this prestigious award through Capturing Kids’ Hearts is just one example of how the district is working to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
