Emporia High School Thespians Approved for International Festival Trip

Emporia, KS – The Emporia Public Schools Board of Education has approved travel for 14 Emporia High School theatre students and two sponsors to attend the International Thespian Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana. The event, which brings together talented high school theatre students from across the country, will take place from June 22 to June 27, 2025.

The estimated cost of the trip is $1,000 per student, which will be funded through grants and student-led fundraising efforts. The International Thespian Festival provides a unique opportunity for students to participate in workshops, showcase performances, and network with industry professionals, enhancing their theatrical skills and experience.

The Board also approved a generous $1,000 donation from Paula Sauder to support the EHS Thespian program. This contribution will help cover program expenses and assist students attending the festival.

The Emporia High School theater department is excited to attend the International Thespian Festival in Indianapolis Indiana this June!  This life-changing week of theatre is a wonderful opportunity for our student leaders to learn, grow, connect with other theater students and colleges across the country, and bring back what they learned to EHS.  We are incredibly grateful for the generous donation that will help make this trip possible.  This donation will also help support our theater program productions and community events.  I am extremely proud of our students and student officers representing EHS and can not wait to see what they learn and experience at this year’s festival in Indiana!- Ms. Amanda Ballard, EHS Theatre Director

Emporia High Theatre will present Murder’s in the Heir, an interactive mystery comedy, on February 20-21 at 7 p.m. at Emporia High School. The play invites the audience to help solve the mystery as the story unfolds.

Please contact Emporia High School for more information about the EHS Thespian program, upcoming performances, or ways to support student fundraising efforts.
