Truancy is defined as any three consecutive unexcused absences, any five unexcused absences in an 18-week period, or seven unexcused absences in a school year, whichever comes first.
Repeatedly absent students will be referred to the Kansas Department for Children and Families. An affidavit will be filed with the county attorney’s office, and the student’s parent or guardian will be notified.
On Friday, April 19, and Monday, April 22 all elementary schools and the Jones ECDC will be open to assist families who have not yet enrolled their Preschool or Kindergarten students for the 2024-25 school year. Families who have not yet enrolled their Kindergarten or Preschool students should make plans to attend. Students must be enrolled by April 26 for their seats to be reserved for the 2024-25 school year. Staff will be available from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm both days. If you have any questions please contact your student's elementary school.
We would like to remind you that there will be no school tomorrow Friday, April 19, and Monday, April 22 due to a scheduled teacher workday and teacher PLT. All classes will resume on Tuesday, April 23. Have a great weekend.
