Jones Early Childhood Development Center

Building For The Future

Jones Early Childhood Development Center

Maynard will be replaced with a new state of the art early childhood facility built near Riverside Elementary. The new center will be specifically designed to serve the needs of young children in the district through play-based learning to grow social skills, coordination, and empowered learners. The facility will have expanded classrooms and learning environments, student support spaces, and indoor activity areas. Outdoor playgrounds will feature age-appropriate areas for play and exploration.

Project Update: 8/9/2021

We have just about completed the brick on the exterior and will be starting the stone veneer later this week. On the inside, we have started finishes. Paint is going on the walls in Area B, tile will be soon to follow along with the ceiling grid. Drywall finishing continues in Area A and C. Permanent power should be on in the next week to ten days which I think is a monster milestone.

Project Update: 4/13/2021

We continue to erect steel and spread out the roof decking. The joists are up on the storm shelter and will be decked once we get it detailed out. They started the retention pond a while back and completed it this past Friday. Exterior framing is due to start this coming week along with some of the overhead mechanical systems in Area B.

Project Update: 3/17/2021

Construction is about 75% complete on the storm shelter and should be wrapping those block walls up in the next 4-5 days, weather pending. Over the past couple of days, we have been receiving the steel for the building and started flying it in and erecting it today. The next couple of weeks will be dedicated to steel erection with metal stud framing to follow. You’ll start to see big changes now!

Project Update: 2/27/2021

Here are some photos from our concrete pour Friday morning. We will have our final floor pour on Tuesday 3/2. The masons will be starting block on the multipurpose room the following Monday 3/8, and steel erection is scheduled to start on Monday 3/15. Should start to look like a building in just a few short weeks.

Project Update: 1/29/2021

We’ve been slowed this week due to weather, but late last week we did get the FEMA shelter (Multipurpose room) footings poured and have the first slab on grade pour prepped and ready to pour on Tuesday. We are hoping to be most of the way poured out by the 15th or 18th so the masons can start laying block for that room on 2/22 with the ironworkers flying steel right behind them. Here’s to hoping for good weather.

Project Update: 1/15/2021

We have been working hard at getting the footings in and some of the mechanical underground, the weather has not been cooperating with us much until this week. We are hoping to have the building footings completed by mid-next week and start focusing on the slab on grade. We are scheduled to have our first flat pour (Area B) on February 2nd.

Project Update: 12/11/2020

Work on underground utilities has begun, the building pad is complete, and is ready to start footings and foundations. Concrete crews will start this work beginning next week. The site work is coming along nicely, most of the parking lots are to sub-grade and a lot of this site work should be completed in the next couple of weeks.
