Walnut Elementary School has been a part of the Emporia community in its
present location for over 50 years. It is conveniently located in
the northwest-central part of the city in an established neighborhood.
Currently, about 300 students attend kindergarten through fourth grade
classes at Walnut.
Our building contains 3
kindergarten,
3 first grade, 3 second grade, 2 third grade, and 2 fourth grade
classrooms. Take a few minutes to look at some of the things that are
happening in Walnut classrooms. Learning is
enhanced by our full time computer lab, mobile computer lab, music classroom, physical education program, student library, literacy library, and ELA classroom. Art classes
are provided weekly for students. Students with special needs receive
individualized instruction through a variety of programs. Additionally,
our school has a well-equipped playground where students can exercise
growing bodies.
Walnut's friendly staff and facility provide a nurturing environment
for students to begin their lifelong learning journey. Some of the
students attending our school have had parents and grandparents who are
Walnut alumni. A creative, energetic group of parents support Walnut
School through our active PTO. |
