News for Walnut Students, by Walnut Students!

Recording Session!

Welcome to the WTV web page.  Walnut Elementary School's in-house broadcasting station has been in existence since 1998.  It was first started by Roberta Vidrickson to give students an opportunity to learn and practice all aspects of broadcasting including the presentation and technical viewpoints.
In 2006, Walnut received a new media cart, camera, lighting, computer and software.  As part of the QUEST program, students meet after school to prepare news stories for broadcast.  News stories are produced to DVD, then are broadcast through our in-house closed circuit TV station.

Broadcasters learn to write scripts, take digital photos, scan documents, prepare PowerPoint presentations, and record digital video movies.  Stories include school-related current events, opinion polls, staff interviews, and popular topics of interest.
Mrs. Harbaugh is the sponsor for WTV.  Fourth grade students prepare stories for broadcast and take turns using the media cart during recording sessions.
