Hi! My name is Stephanie Stapp and I have been the Student Support Specialist at Walnut since 2005. I have been married to my husband, Randy since 1995, and we have two children, Drew and Katelyn. In my time away from school we enjoy spending most all our time together as a family and we all also serve in children’s ministries in our church. The road that led me to Walnut seemed like a long one – but was well worth it! I attended Emporia State University where I obtained my Bachelors Degree with a major in Psychology and minor in Sociology. Upon graduation I began working for SOS in Emporia and began serving families in crisis in our community. After working with families in the community I realized I really wanted more education so I could be better prepared to help families and children, so I attended Washburn University and obtained my Master’s Degree in Social Work in the spring of 2005. While in graduate school I had the opportunity to work in the foster care system as well as serve as a school social worker in North Lyon County helping students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. After having the opportunity to work with children and families in the school setting I knew that was what I wanted to do with my education and past experiences serving others. I was very excited to accept the position as Student Support Specialist at Walnut working with elementary age children and their families. I love being at Walnut because of our amazing students, their families, and our great staff – they have become like another family to me. |
