Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What are the school hours?
Answer: Our school day begins at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. on Monday- Thursday. On Friday, our school day ends at 2:20 p.m. so that teachers have professional development time.

Question: How early should my student arrive at school?
Answer: Students who eat breakfast should not arrive before 8:10 a.m. Students who are not eating breakfast are encouraged to arrive no earlier than 8:30
a.m. Students wait in the hallways outside their classrooms until 8:40 a.m. when they are allowed to go into their rooms.

Question: What should I do if my child will be absent?
Answer: Please call the school office by 8:45 a.m. to report your child’s absence or late arrival.

Question: What are the procedures for visiting my child’s classroom?
Answer: Parents and volunteers are always welcome at Village. You should contact the teacher in advance and schedule an appointment. Always check in at the office when you are visiting the school.

Question: Why do you release school early on Fridays?
Answer: We use the Friday early release time to provide the opportunity for our staff members to collaborate and develop their professional skills. We provide supervised activities for those students who are unable to go home at 2:20 p.m. The charge is $10 per semester.

Question: What are the prices for student and adult lunches?
Answer: Student lunches cost $1.80 and adult lunches cost $2.55.

Question: What are the prices for student and adult breakfasts?
Answer: Students breakfasts cost $1.25 and adult breakfasts cost $1.45.

Question: When does my child’s class go to lunch
Answer: 2nd grade (11:40-12:20); 1st grade (11:50-12:30); 3rd grade (12:00-12:40); Kindergarten (12:10-12:50); 4th grade (12:20-1:00).

Question: What security measures are in place at the school?
Answer: All exterior doors are locked after 9:00 a.m. with the exception of the main entrance by the office. All visitors to the school are asked to sign in and get a name badge to wear while in the school. We have a building Crisis Plan in place and staff members are trained in what to do in an emergency.
