Noel Stanton graduated from Emporia High School in 1959. He was a member of
Key Club and the Red Echo staff. He was sophomore and senior class president, and he
participated in cross country, basketball and track. He was named a National Merit
Scholarship finalist.

Mr. Stanton continued his education at several universities including Emporia
State University and Kansas State University. He moved to Moerlenbac, Germany, to
pursue a career as an architect. His accomplishments include designing the John Deere
European plant central cafeteria, the Old Fire Station historical landmark remodeling, and
the west complex of Research Hospital at the University of Heidelberg, all in Mannheim.
He became active in the Association for Protection of Nature and the Environment,
Germany’s largest environmental group.

His nomination reads, Mr. Stanton’s life work has not been a quest for material
wealth, but rather a pursuit of excellence in his profession coupled with service to
the community as a person and together with his family.
