
Robert Rodriquez graduated from Emporia High School in 1965. While in high
school, he participated in football for four years and received all area honorable mention
award and the Inspirational Athlete of the Year Award from his fellow athletes.
He began his law enforcement career in April 1970 and worked his through the
ranks to become the first Hispanic Chief of Police in Emporia and possibly Kansas. Chief
Rodriquez serves on the Drug and Alcohol Advisory Counsel, the Community
Corrections Board, and the Lyon County and Emporia High School Crime Stoppers
boards. In November 1991, he received the Chamber of Commerce Image Award.
His nomination states, Bob always can be counted on to help, not just because of
his deep devotion to the community, but because of his firm belief that it is his
responsibility to make the world a little better place to live in.
