John L. Lewis, a 1978 EHS Graduate, has been involved in athletics all his life. In
high school, he was an accomplished player on the basketball and golf teams. He attended
college on golf scholarships and received a bachelor’s degree in business education from
Southwest Texas State University in 1983. He has been a professional golfer since 1984
and attained his Professional Golfers Association (PGA) membership in 1988 after
completing a five year process.

Lewis has worked as a golf professional and manager at clubs in Texas and has
played professional golf in the NIKE and PGA tours. In 1999, he was the winner of the
John Deere Classic and finished 65th on the PGA Tour money list. He plays in 30 or 35
PGA events a year and participates in clinics and charity functions. His work is a family
event and his wife and children accompany him on the tours. He hopes to play on the
PGA Tour and Senior PGA for the rest of his career.
