Olive Hoch graduated from Emporia High School in 1933. While in school, she
served as senior class treasurer and was a member of The Echo newspaper, National
Honor Society and Girls Reserves. She was elected High Queen her senior year.

After graduation, Mrs. Hoch became deeply involved in the First Christian Church.
Much of her time was devoted to womens organizations and other service
organizations around Emporia such as the Red Cross, Womens City Club, Beta Sigma
Phi and the Lyon County Mental Health Association.

Her nomination states, Olive was a caring volunteer whose gentle
compassion made a difference in the lives of thousands of people in Emporia and Lyon
County. Her life epitomized meaningful service and love of neighbors.
