GRANT F. TIMMERMAN ELEMENTARY - A WAY COOL SCHOOL, DUDE!
OUR BULLDOG MASCOT was chosen in tribute to Grant F. Timmerman. The bulldog is the official mascot of the United States Marine Corps, in which Mr. Timmerman served as a sergeant during World War II. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously for selfless heroism, making the ultimate sacrifice for his country and fellow Marines. You may just see SCOUT, our real and live bulldog mascot, interacting with our students during a visit to Timmerman.
I am proud to be serving as your Principal at Grant F. Timmerman Elementary School. I believe that students at Timmerman are receiving the highest quality instruction that is possible, from highly trained teaching professionals, trained in cutting edge educational research. Our teachers utilize current, "Best Practice," instruction techniques. The two foremost curriculum initiatives currently in progress are; Imagine It Reading , and our Standards Based Math Program, Math Trailblazers. Our teachers meet weekly in Professional Learning Communities (PLC's) to discuss what big ideas they want students to learn, how learning will be assessed, plan together appropriate responses for students who learn right away, and plan responses for those who need additional supports. Our teachers have also implemented the Response to Intervention (RTI) instructional model which insures that ALL students at all levels receive appropriate instructional interventions to insure their learning. Our student motto is to come to school everyday, "Ready to Learn."
A STAFF THAT CARES - Our staff genuinely cares about the individual success of each one of our students. We understand the importance of a caring relationship with our parents and patrons. The doors are always open and there is no question too small to ask us.
PARENT SUPPORT - We have an active and supportive Parent Teacher Organization at Timmerman. I encourage all new parents to join and become active in this wonderful group. I also encourage our existing parents to become activiely involved if you aren't already doing so. Our students benefit greatly from services, activites, and funds that our PTO provides to our school. Research shows us that the more actively parents are involved in the education of their children, the greater likelihood that their children will be successful in school So, don't just sit there, GET INVOLVED! We love it. You will, too.
