Board of Education Accepts Notice from Superintendent Theresa Davidson

Theresa Davidson, Superintendent

Theresa Davidson, Superintendent

It is with a bittersweet mixture of humility and pride that I submit my notice of retirement as Superintendent of the Emporia Public School District effective at the end of this fiscal year. Please be assured that this decision comes after much careful consideration and heart-felt gratitude for the extraordinary opportunity to be a part of this wonderful community.

I have served the district for 13 years in a number of positions, including that of assistant superintendent for business, associate superintendent for personnel and these last six years as superintendent. Throughout these varied experiences, I have had the privilege to work alongside an extremely talented and dedicated staff; a community that appreciates and supports education, and students and parents who truly understand the value of learning.

We are entering a new era in education. One built out of the hearts of caring professionals and imagined through the eyes of a new generation of learners. The possibilities are countless and unparalleled. Truly, our best days are ahead!

I have tremendous respect for the insight and commitment you demonstrate as board members and as individuals. Thank you for being supportive and demanding, collaborative and visionary.

This is an emotional and difficult thing for me to do. There may never be a perfect time to close this chapter in my life but this is the right time to begin a new one. I take this step knowing that I have been a part of something exceptional and rare. I am proud of our capacity to stretch beyond what we thought possible. I am inspired by the boldness with which we have accepted each new challenge. I am awed by what we have achieved. It has been an experience that I will forever cherish – a seemingly never ending collection of wonderful memories.

M. Theresa Davidson
