If you need to enroll for 2016-17, come to Mary Herbert Education Center, 1700 W 7th Ave. We are open Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm. Enrollment for 2017-18 will open after July 1, 2017.
If you are new to the district, come to Mary Herbert Education Center, 1700 W. 7th Ave. We are open Monday – Thursday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm during June and July. Starting August 1, we are open Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm.
The following information is required for new students:
- Birth certificate – kindergarten students must be 5 years old on or before August 31
- Immunization records
- Physical exam (within 12 months of school entry for kindergarten/anytime during school career for older students)
- Student records from previous school (Grade 1 and above)
2017-18 Online Enrollment Opens July 17
Students who will attend Emporia Public Schools for the first time in 2017-18 will enroll at Mary Herbert Education Center. Office hours during June and July are Monday – Thursday, 7:30 am – 4 pm. Starting August 1, office hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm.
Children who will be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2017, are eligible to attend kindergarten in 2017-18. Emporia schools offer full-day kindergarten at all elementary schools. Please complete a Kindergarten Information Form (Spanish Form) and take it to Student & Family Resources at Mary Herbert Education Center, 1700 W. 7th Ave.
For all new students, please bring copies of:
- Child’s birth certificate
- Immunization records
- Physical exam completed since August 1 of last year
All returning students and any new students who are pre-registered will be notified of online enrollment procedures starting July 17, 2017. All K-12 enrollment will be done online from any location with internet access through August 2, 2017. Starting August 3, all enrollments must be completed in Student & Family Resources at Mary Herbert Education Center,
Elementary Attendance Centers & Boundaries
What elementary school do you attend?
A child’s elementary attendance center is based on a family’s home address. The district also has a K-8 charter school, Turning Point Academy, which has an open enrollment and application process. Print the Turning Point Academy application, or contact the school at 620-341-2455.
Requests to attend an attendance center in another neighborhood may be considered. Applications for 2017-18 can be submitted online. Deadline for requests is July 1 for the upcoming school year. More information is available from the Student & Family Resources Office, 620-341-2396.
Applying for Free or Reduced Meal Benefits
Paper applications for free or reduced-price meals are available at Mary Herbert Education Center, 1700 W 7th Ave., or the Food Service Department at Emporia High School, 3302 W 18th Ave., 620-341-2382.

2016-17 School Supply List (Preschool – Gr 8)
School supplies will be provided for all students at the start of school thanks to a donation from the First United Methodist Church of Emporia.
