Kindergarten Pre-Registration Scheduled March 30 & 31

The Emporia Public Schools will host Kindergarten Pre-Registration March 30 & 31 for parents whose children will start kindergarten in August. Children who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31, 2015, are eligible to attend kindergarten. The district offers full-day kindergarten at six neighborhood schools and Turning Point Academy.

Three sessions will be held for parents at Mary Herbert Education Center, 1700 W. 7th Ave.

  • Monday, March 30, 6:30 pm – for families whose last names start with A-L
  • Tuesday, March 31, 10:00 am – open to all families
  • Tuesday, March 31, 6:30 pm – for families whose last names start with M-Z

Parents who are unable to attend the evening session designated for their part of the alphabet, you may attend the morning session or the other evening session.

Personnel from all the elementary schools will be represented and parents will have a chance to speak with the principals. Parents will receive information about enrollment requirements, transportation services, the school lunch program and school health services.

Parents will be asked to complete a student information form and provide copies of their child’s birth certificate and immunization records. Before school starts Aug. 19, the school will need a copy of a physical completed and signed by the doctor within 12 months of the start of school.

Parents and students will meet their teachers and visit classrooms at Kindergarten Orientations at 4 pm and 5 pm Monday, Aug. 17, 2015.
