Who is the After School Program coordinator at Walnut Elementary?
Mrs. Paula Roper is the After School Program coordinator. You may contact her at the school, or email her at proper@usd253.org.
What is the After School Program?
Walnut's After School program offers a variety of activities for students. On Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, students in grades 1-4 attend from 3:45-5:00. On Wednesday, early release day, students in grades K-4 attend from 2:15-3:30. This program is designed to help young persons grow academically, emotionally, and socially. Our goal is to provide a safe, supervised, enriching environment for students outside of regular school hours.
Who can attend After School Program activities?
All Walnut students in grades 1-4 are encouraged to take advantage of the wide variety of social and academic activities on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Students in grades K-4 may attend during the early release time on Wednesdays. Pre-enrollment is required.

Does it cost anything to participate in the Walnut After School Program?
Normally, after school programs are free of charge, although a minimal fee may be involved occasionally to offset program and travel costs.
How are students and parents notified of After School Program activities?
Monthly calendars are sent home for the student and parent to decide which activities the student would like to participate in. Students circle the activities they choose and return the calendars to school promptly. If you sign up your child for the After School Program, we hope you will only pick up or dismiss your child in case of an emergency.
