Walnut Elementary School has been a part of the Emporia community in its present location for over 50 years.  It is conveniently located in the northwest-central part of the city in an established neighborhood.  Currently about 260 students attend kindergarten through fourth grade classes at Walnut.

Our building houses 3 kindergarten, 3 first grade, 3 second grade, 2 third grade and 2 fourth grade classrooms.  We hope you will take a few moments to visit our classroom pages to see some of the exciting things that are happening at Walnut Elementary.  Learning is enhanced by our full time computer lab, mobile computer lab, music education, physical education, library, and ELA classroom.  Art classes are provided weekly for students.  Students with special needs receive individualized instruction through a variety of programs.  Additionally, our school has a well-equipped playground where students can exercise growing bodies.

Walnut's friendly staff and facility provide a nurturing environment for students to begin their lifelong learning journey.  Some of the students attending our school have parents and grandparents who are Walnut alumni.  A creative , energetic group of parents support Walnut School through our active Parent Teacher Organization.
