Mission and Vision
Turning Point Learning Center
Welcome to the K – 8 Charter School that is both innovative and non-traditional. The Turning Point Learning Center offers educational choices and flexibility that customizes education for every student. Our philosophy is that learning can occur at any time and place and happens in both an individual and social context.
Our Virtual program has been in full swing since 2005 and continues to grow. We serve students in grades K – 8, throughout the state of Kansas, by providing curriculum virtually. Science and Art Academies, field trips, and music lessons are also offered as part of this program. To enroll, simply download the 2009 – 2010 enrollment packet above and mail it to the office. Enrollment ends September 17, 2009.

The Face to Face Program
Our Project-Based, on-site program serves students in grades 5 – 8, who are driven, eager to learn, who can work with a team of their peers, and who want to be a participant in their own learning. Parents work as true partners with the school to create a full, inviting learning environment for their children.
Project based learning is a systematic teaching method that engages students in learning knowledge and 21st Century skills. The students work through an extended inquiry process structured around complex, authentic questions and carefully designed products and tasks. Special emphasis is placed on global connections not only to learning, but also actual global connections, classroom to classroom via video conferencing and other technology tools.
For more information regarding the face-to-face portion of Turning Point Learning Center (not the online services), please contact Ginger Lewman, Director of OnSite Services at GingerL@essdack.org or 620-794-1346.
