Lowther North student receives online writing award

Sadie Moore

A story written and illustrated by sixth grade student Sadie Moore was a runner up in an international competition. Sadie’s story, “Sharing the Christmas Spirit,” was a runner up in a Christmas and winter story competition sponsored by the web site Myths and Legends.

Sadie was recognized at an assembly before school on Monday at Lowther North Intermediate School. She is the daughter of Mitch and Christy Moore of Emporia.

Sadie’s story describes a young girl’s dream-like trip back in time.  Her story is on the Myths and Legends website at http://myths.e2bn.org/

Myths and Legends is a site for students and teachers who enjoy stories and storytelling. Student can use a program to create stories using sound, text, characters, creatures and scenery.

This winter, the site held a Christmas and winter story competition.  Five stories were selected as winners and six were selected as runners up. Eight of the winners were from the United Kingdom, two from Florida and one from Kansas.
