Welcome to Lowther North Intermediate School!
“Hello. My name is Jana Phillips and I have been the Student Support Specialist at Lowther North since 2006. Prior to LNIS, I was a child & family therapist at a mental health center in Topeka, KS.
I received both my Bachelors & Masters in Clinical Social Work Degree at Washburn University. My husband and I have three boys, Clay, Cohle & Carter. We live on a farm where we have horses, dogs, cats and lots of cattle. I enjoy riding horses, playing in the garden, solving Sudoku puzzles and cheering on the Kansas Jayhawks. One of my long-term goals is to visit every continent and to tour every zoo.
A few of my routine duties include brief counseling, small group work, observations/interviews and assist with data collection. I assist the staff with the Social Emotional Learning curriculum. In addition to my non-living resources, I have had the opportunity to have a professional therapy dog. Edie (E-D), has been with me since October 2007 where she came to me from the C.A.R.E.S. program in Concordia, KS. She and I work as a team at LNIS supporting students and staff. For additional information on Edie please visit her webpage. The most important role I have is to assist you & your student while they are at Lowther North. If you ever have any questions please contact me via email, phone or in person. “
