Curriculum Guidelines
Our goal is to provide a guaranteed curriculum for all students. This is the content and processes that all students will learn in designated grade levels/courses and is the basis for formative assessments.
For each subject area, we have a list of the “big ideas,” the six to eight concepts we want students to know or be able to do as a result of completing this grade/course. In Science and Social Studies you also will find the “critical attributes.” These are the indicators which are components of the requisite knowledge for a grade level/course – these may include the priority indicated that are tested on the Kansas Assessments.
For more information about the Emporia Public School curriculum, contact Dr. George Abel, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, 620-341-2211, gabel@usd253.org
