Purpose/Mission:  The Emporia Arts Council is a non-profit organization that "Educates, Advocates and Celebrates the Arts" in a seven-county East Central Kansas area.

Service Provided:  Youth Arts Education Fund will provide vital, ongoing support for the Arts Council to serve the youth of the area with scholarships for art classes, arts programming and instruction. Students took advantage of the scholarships for summer camps and classes. It is our goal to provide programming for every child. With your support no child will be turned away due to their inability to pay.

Daisy Ferguson-Grimes Trust Fund

Purpose/Mission:  Provide assistance to low-income school children.

Service Provided:  Trust fund will pay for eye glasses and eye exams, medication, dental and medical visits, school physicals and clothing.

Population Served:  Children living in the Emporia school district and attending Emporia Public Schools.

Eligibility:  Based on eligibility for free/reduced-priced meals.

Cost/Fees:  None

Hopkins Foundation Emporia Student Assistance Fund

Office Hours:            Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Purpose/Mission: Fund to help students who show extraordinary talent or ability in a given area but lack the financial resources to fund projects in the student’s area of interest.

Service Provided: Funding may include tuition at Flint Hills Technical College, purchase of supplies or equipment for a specific interest, registration fees to attend a seminar or camp in an area that the child shows potential, or mentor fees.

Population Served: Students attending Emporia Public Schools.

Eligibility: Based on need. Applications must be co-signed by a teacher or administrator.

Walter S. & Evan C. Jones Foundation

Sadie A. Jones Trust Fund

 (Established in 1954)

Eligibility for Services: Parents must be residents of Lyon County and meet approval by Board of Trustees.

Services: To provide medical care for children of Lyon County when families are not financially able to provide medical care, dental work, eyeglasses, etc.  Sadie Jones worked in Emporia for many years.  She became deaf and wanted her estate to be used to help deaf and blind children in particular.

Application Procedure:  Application forms are supplied to city and county school nurses.  Applications are presented to Tom Thompson at Lyon County State bank.
