Purpose/Mission: Public assistance
Service Provided: The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) provides free food to low income households. TEFAP ships the food about four or more times a year to food banks and helping agencies. To learn where and when to pick up the food, persons may contact the local food bank, helping agency, or SRS office.
The Food Stamp Program is a nutrition assistance program which provides a Vision card (plastic debit card) to eligible persons for use in purchasing food from local grocery stores. Complete information regarding food stamp eligibility can be obtained by contacting your local Social and Rehabilitation Services Office.

Purpose/Mission: Food program that is non-charity, no government involvement, and self sustaining.
Service Provided: S.H.A.R.E. (self-help and resource exchange), is a not-for-profit organization which began in 1983 in California and quickly moved across the United States. S.H.A.R.E. is dedicated to providing a monthly basic, consistent, affordable supplemental food package to those willing to help themselves and others. The warehouse of the six-state program in Kansas, which was started in 1991, is located in Topeka, Ks, but there are approximately 375 host sites in Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri, Texas, and Arkansas.
Population Served: General public.
Eligibility: For a minimum of just two (2) hours of volunteer service per month, anyone is eligible to stretch their food dollars and purchase a good nutritious food package.

Purpose/Mission: The program is designed to improve the nutritional status of persons eligible to participate.
Service Provided: WIC provides high-quality nutritional care and food to our participants.
Population Served: Low-income pregnant, lactating and postpartum women and children up to age 5.
Eligibility: Clients must meet income guidelines and be determined by WIC staff to have a medical or nutritional risk.
