Purpose/Mission:  To speak for the best interests of children in the court system due to abuse, neglect, or domestic matters including visitation and custody

Service Provided:  Volunteers advocate for children by interviewing all parties with information regarding the children and making a report to the court that includes recommendations as to what is in the child’s best interest.

Population Served:  Children under 18 years of age in Lyon and Chase Counties.

Eligibility:  Any child in the court system is eligible.  Volunteers must be 21 years old, commit to one year of service, fill out application, including references and submit to background checks and a personal interview.

Cost/Fees:  None

To Access Services:  Referrals can be made by SRS, attorneys, schools, mental health providers or others working with the family.  Ultimately, the judge in the case must request the appointment of a CASA volunteer.
