Fine Arts is a small organization and we encourage more members for future meetings and activities.
In November members painted business windows around Emporia with scenes honoring Veterans and military themes for Veteran's Day.
Funds were generated for art field trips, and a portion of the money was donated to the All Veterans Tribute Organization.
In January we went on a field trip to Kansas City to visit the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, H&R Block Space, Kemper Museum and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
The day included lunch by the fountain at the Roselle Court Restaurant at the Nelson surrounded by artwork.
The trip ended with a walking visit of the Plaza Shopping District to see more sculpture, fountains, and unique Spanish architecture, and galleries on the way out of town.
Members will assist with the display of student artwork in the Emporia High School Library planned for April 3. The community will be invited and some students will be selling their work.
Music entertainment will also be provided by members of the high school orchestra.
We also visit local art exhibits at the Emporia State Universtiy and the Emporia Arts Council.
