Clothing Drive for Students Announced

A community wide drive to collect personal hygiene items and new or nearly new clothing and coats starts today in Emporia. The drive is sponsored by the Emporia Public Schools Student & Family Resources Office and all donations will be given to students in need of winter clothing. The drive ends on Nov. 22.

Heather Wagner, Student & Family Resources specialist, said the greatest need is for new or nearly new clothing for boys and girls in all sizes – toddler through adult. Specific items needed include: coats, gloves, hats socks, belts. underwear, shirts, shorts, sweats, sweatshirts and shoes. The drive also is collecting personal hygiene items.

Any used clothing will be laundered by the Wash House Laundry, 515 E 12th Ave. The items will be distributed through the school counselors and student support specialists.

Collection boxes can be found at Dillons, Flinthills Mall, KVOE and Price Chopper. For more information, call the Student & Family Resources Office, 341-2396.
