Board Policies – Section G – Personnel
Staff members elected or appointed to a public office which restricts the employee’s ability to complete contractual obligations may be required to take unpaid leave for a period of time determined by the board or may be terminated.
Staff members holding a public office, which in the judgment of the board is less than full-time, shall request unpaid leave from the superintendent at least one week in advance. An employee who must be absent from school to carry out the duties of a public office must take a leave of absence without pay for the duration of the public office.
Staff members covered by the negotiated agreement should refer to that document for information on available leaves for political activities.
